It must have been a while since you bought any........what did you pay last time?

Lead and copper prices have shot through the roof in the last year

Hi there,

I bought a load of Diana 28g 7 1/2 cartridges from Sportsman Gun Centre, they are the cheapest available from that store (about £40.00 /250) and I have shot over 3000 of them now with good results,

They are a good all rounder -

From your message though i reckon you have more than a round of clays in mind given the specific sizes you mention.

Bought 1000 RC sipe 32g 6s for £264? Don't no if that's good or not as they were the first I've ever bought. Seem to do the job on crows, pigeons and rabbits? (well the ones I hit) ;-) think I waste most of them but practice makes perfect

Hi

Just looking at buying some cartridges for the first time in a long while. Nearly had a heart attack! Where do people get cheap ammo these days?

Looking for 12G bb, No 4 and 71/2

20G 71/2

About a thousand of each 71/2, and 500 BB & 4's

Cheers

Mick

Prices have shot up this last few years. I used to buy 1000 28g 7.5 for about 90-100quid from my local shop. Last time I popped in there (last year i think) they were 160quid for 1000.

To be honest, I find local shops, or even my local clay ground is the cheapest for cartridges. You can order some online, but you`d have to order 10,000 to get them for a good price.

I just bought a 1000 lyalvale 12g 28g 7 1/2 for 152.

Apparently they have since gone up to 160 odd. Its not just the copper and lead that have gone up on price, cotton too has gone through the roof. Then theres the transport: fuel costs have gone up by 40% in a year and shells are heavy.

Lets face it, shotgunning isn't exactly a cheap sport. Especially if you want to regularly practise at clays.

1000 carts a month at £160 ish plus say 200 -300 quid at the clay ground, plus the odd beer afterwards and petrol to get you to and from. Makes pigeon shooting look damn cheap!
