lapin2008 1,587
its not that bad i shot my self in the foot. i was shooting rabbits and i seen one on the other side of a fence as i made my way closer i went through a bush with my gun by my side and the bush hit the triger and shot me through the top of my boot i didnt even think it had got me so i loaded up the gun again as the rabbit was still there but as i lifted the gun it made a run for it. by this time my foot was throbing so i had a look there was a tiny hole in the top of my boot so i took it of and there was no hole in the sole then i seen my blood red sock and thats when the pain started t took my sock off and there was a hole stright through my toe so i thought it must hsve gon all the way through but i couldnt find the pellet in my boot. if i had found the pellet i would not have gone to a&e but im glad i did as the pellet had hit my bone and shatterd and left 4 pices of pellet in my toe. the worst bit was i had no phone on me so had to bike home 4 miles with my foot pissing blood into my boot beforei couldring ataxi to take me to a&e. all ended ok aftermy op. a lesson was learnt that day ALLWAYS HAVE YOUR SAFTY ON. hope you get better soon and get back at it. I did very similar to this when I must have been about 14, the pellet went through my welly into my big toe about half an inch behind the nail. I had about 4 miles to walk till I got home and didnt take welly off till i got home for fear or what it might look like, the welly was full of blood by the time I got home. The bone in my toe was broken and still has a lump on it where it healed slightly funny. not my finest hour..... Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Accidents do happen bud was down my local rfd today he cocked and handed me a BSA r10 saying it's ok to shoot not loaded aimed at his lovely clock on the wall it now has a .22 hole right under the 12 ha ha Atb Kev I wouldn't trust an RFD who handed me a firearm and said "it's ok to fire it's not loaded". Military training drills it in to you time and time again. ALWAYS CHECK THE WEAPON IS UNLOADED WHEN YOU GET IT, WHETHER YOU PUT IT DOWN 5 MINUTES AGO, OR SOMEONE HANDED IT TO YOU." If you check it yourself every time, then there is no possibility of an accident. So, from a rabbits point of view, what does it feel like to be shot? I've heard it takes a few seconds for the shock of the impact to wear off and the pain to set in, that from people who've been shot with full bore rifles, I wonder if it's the same with an air rifle? I've wondered for a while, but have never been silly enough to shoot myself to find out! 1 Quote Link to post

I cant remember it hurting too much to be honest.. there was an initial "oh shit, I have just shot myself in the foot moment" while my stupidity sank in... then my walk home I think adrenalin/endorphins or what ever meant that it never got that bad but i cant imagine it was too pleasant either. It was a long time ago now so could have been worse then i have made out Edited July 11, 2011 by lapin2008 Quote Link to post
Baghdadnights 150
Couldn't see down the breach hence aiming the gun at the clock should have seen the rfd's face when I shot the clock and called him a c@"t Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
sorry if i,v offended you just thought id get it on before my mate,s I'm not offended, mate, I just don't think it was a good idea to post it in the first place on a public forum. Anyway... You fecked up and it could have been much worse and I'm sure it's a mistake you'll never make again and maybe someone who's read the replys will also take heed and be that bit extra careful with gun handleing. I hope the op goes well and that you're out and about again soon Quote Link to post

I've wondered for a while, but have never been silly enough to shoot myself to find out! i remember hearing about a psni officer cleaning his glock upstairs in his home, he took the clip out but there was 1 in the chamber which he hadnt checked, whatever happened the gun fired and the bullet went through the floor into the room below where his toddler was playing, it went through the sofa only missing the child by inches, i think he was kicked out of the force as a result of the inquiry Quote Link to post
