Starter game hunting shotgun

Recommended Posts

hey lads have posted recently about semi autos but wanted views on both over/unders and semi's.

let me tell you my background and maybe you can point me in the write direction

have bought gun cabinet and applied for sgc.

i am a keen air gunner that prefers his carbines to his full length as long as it doesn't compromise accuracy!

im a strong lad so can handle recoil/heavy guns.

like good build quality!

incase anyone knows airguns i own a hw100tk and f**king love it, so basically im after the hw of the shotgun world.

so wat are the pros & cons of semi's/over-unders?

decent makes and models S/H or new?

budget £400 (around)

thanks

I've just moved on to shottys from the air gun world aswell mate, hw100k very nice gun! I had aas410 carbine and love it! But anyway my dad gave a aremberry o/u I've never heard of it and to tell you the truth I dont really like it, But just bought a beretta silver pigeon 1 from a place in Dorset, the only gun shop in the uk that does finance on guns! Only about £50 a month and I'm loving it! The shops called Avalon guns, worth thinking about? And prob worth spending a bit More and getting something of the same quality as your as your HW 

if your doing clay shooting your want a over and under due to they are safer to start off with and people dont like semi at clay shooting ive had o/u / side by side and got a semi and a pump. semi are great to have you get the extra shot that come in handy rough shooting and pigeon shooting and easy to use the only down side is you have to clean regually or it will start jamming up. there not many places with cheap o/u but you pay for what you get but with semi ive got a hatocs ecort that are dead cheap got for £350 and best gun ive hadbut alway a chance of a jam in semi then you have pump acton's that take the time you take to reload but will never go wrong because they are so simple and dead cheap. i would go for a semi all day long but you either love them or hate them with a pashon. any question u need to know pm me and recoil nothing my 13 year old cousin shoots my pump with 32 gram 6's :)

I'd probably go for a Bettinsoli O/U (Weihrauch fan for airguns myself too), Lanbers are good too for the money.

If you're 6 ft give or take, you'll probably get on better with 30" barrels, 28" if you're a tad shorter.

Best advice: shoulder a few, feel how they swing for you (as sg's are very different to rifles!).

Quarter and half fixed chokes are fine for most things and suit field work very well too.

Good luck!!!
