lurchergirl2 0
Hello folks my 20 mth old pup has a very bad habit of jumping up on poeple if we meet anyone out wlking, we put her on her lead if we see people coming but sometimes they come from nowhere and its to late, it doesn't help that people usually put there hands in the air which just encourages her to jump more!!!! Any suggestions?? Quote Link to post

Any suggestions?? as the man said she should be on a lead, but as not to encourage jumping you need to set up a scene where she is only given any attention when she sits and behaves in front of someone, its needs to be started from off the lead anyway, use one of your friends ,with the dog on the lead, walk up to them , when the dog jumps up, give her a chuck on the lead, get her to sit ,and them let the friend praise, thats the basic form of it, but she'll need to be kept on the lead till she starts to show the correct responce to different people, which will take time , best of luck 2 Quote Link to post

hargreavesheber 93
Mine did that too fella, as soon as she saw some one, she'd run to them and jump up! Not good when dog was shit up...! All i did was, start from the home, don't let em jump up at you or family, if they do, correct it straight away. Don't give any attention until the dogs calmed down! Mine is reyt when out now at 12months old. A good recall helps too. Good luck.. Quote Link to post
scalesntails 118
Best way to sort it is to get a few mates to suddenly meet you while you are out. When one is approaching call your dog to you and make it sit then get your mate to greet the dog, praise it and maybe give it a treat. If it jumps up they turn their back and walk away. Usually if you train this for visitors to your home it will work when you are out too. Quote Link to post
