Greek Phil 5
If using a propriety brand of wormer such as Panacur as an off label method for worm treatment in game birds. Make sure the product chosen doesn't contain selenium or cobalt. Edited July 25, 2011 by Greek Phil Quote Link to post
2434me 13
The last two tons of pellets have Flubenvet in,after that its onto wheat and this is what I do. I hand feed everything and divide the wheat into bucket fulls, two buckets to a bag. I then mix 100ml with half a litre of water and mix it(per bucket) with the wheat in a big plastic tub. Put it back into the bags and let it soak in overnight and feed the next morning.(4500/5000 birds) I do it this way for two reasons, 1, a couple of my pens have water running through them . 2,I can keep the birds hungry the day before so I know they will all come to the feed. I alternate Panacur and Ivomec every couple/three weeks ,but the ivomec does go in the drinkers and forms a slick on the top,the birds have to put their beaks through the slick to drink and pick up the ivomec that way. I DONT treat anything unless it needs it !Only persistent pens get the full treatment. If its not broke! DONT fix it ! 1 Quote Link to post
Greek Phil 5
Ivomec or Ivermectin is also known as Eprinex Do you use the Ivomec Classic or the Ivomec Super? What dilution rates do you use? Quote Link to post
2434me 13
I use Ivomec classic at the moment.I dont have a measure that I use on the water.I just put maybe an eggcupfull on the top and it spreads itself out to form the slick. After two days I empty out the water and replace with fresh. My drinkers are the bottom four inches of a blue barrel with a ballcock and gravity feed.So the surface area is quite large. I dont use hanging drinkers or galvanised ones. Quote Link to post

I only use low pressure pan drinkers of a similar design as yours on the rides and in the game covers. How do you stop your birds from perching on the sides or on the ballcock and taking a dump in them? Quote Link to post

I only use this method in the release pens. The birds tend to come for water or feed and then scratch around the pen for the rest of the day.You do get the odd "Dump" in the drinker ,but it gets a swill out every couple of days anyway.I have the big white tanks (IBC,s )I think they are called.Half inch hose pipe to a push on fitting at the ballcock.
