Just picked up some of this stuff for my deer rifle. I went to get some heads and powder to finally start re-loading but they only had FMJ and at £21 a box thought it worth a go. Its half the price of Norma and Federal.. just wondering if i'm paying for half the peformance

 

Anyone have any experience with this?

But if it hold a good group and expands at a consistant rate regular on your intended quarry then you have all that can be asked of any make of ammunition it seems a reasonable price at just a tad over £1 a blast.

 

If you purchased the components heads etc 50p to 60p a knock and powder etc at £35 tub plus primers its getting close to is it worth the effort in reloading.

 

That is if has stated they are consistant and hold a good group and perform well.

I haven't tried it either.

But they are a big company in europe and its doubtfull they would load the ammo with poor heads.

The deer in europe tend to be bigger then ours as well as boar and moose.

They also tend to load the 6.5x55 to higher pressures then usa manufactureres so they should hit a little harder.

As stu said above if they shoot well in your gun and perform on the deer get some more bought at that money.

Most 6.5's are very forgiving and shoot most bullets well enough for stalking.

I know a someone that uses them out of a BSA Monarch .270. They worked well enough and as he doesn't pay for them he has little to complain about.

 

You might want to take a look at PPU from Henry Krank £58.60 per 100

 

A084 6,5 x 55 SP BT 139gr

A083 6,5 x 55 FMJ BT 139gr

A227 6,5 x 55 SP RN 156gr

I use the ppu in my 6.5x55 139 for winter does and 156grRN for summer bucks as it flys through light foliage.

They both shoot to same zero @ 100m's and group under 1 inch in my sako finlight.

I also use the 50gr sp in my 22250 and it shoots 1 inch @ 200m's.

I no longer hand load for the 6.5 as it does all I want with the privvis.

Brilliant - cheers for the replies. I guess the proof will be in the puddng so to speak so I'll get a few down on paper and then maybe stock up whilst he's still got some unless I can get hold of some PPU - they seem the way forward at that price! Its normally a case of take what you can get with this caliber round these parts.

Don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't this... three shot group at 100 meters - 1st shot slightly left, next two through the same hole. No change in zero from the Federal.

I used S&B in .30-06 and 7x64. It's ok for deer in my rifles. Grouping ok and as decent SP is expanding nicely. S&B is more popular on continent as quite cheep, but they also sell their ammo with hornady SST heads and nosler partition. Never seen them in the UK though.

Bought a 100 PPU in .243 last itme I passed cranks. Not Great group, just over an inch, but as I rarely shoot beast over a 150 yards, they perform fine. Cheaper than reloading just about.... ( I still reload though )

I used S&B in 308 whilst hunting in Germany. Got a great deal from Frankonia,180gn Barnes solid copper bullets. Should have been 54 euros for 20, reduced to 19, so I bought 300. Accurate and hard hitting ,used well for roe and Boar. Cannot fault S&B for the price.
