Just this year, myself and another lad went Rook shooting on the traditional date. We managed a few and I attempted the old victorian recipe...It worked, and It didnt taste half bad :victory:

 

All the birds we shot were young'uns, Branchers I believe the oldies called them. The thought of cooking and chewing on a big old tough Rook didnt sit well with my stomach.

 

So if you get a chance at a few young birds, give them a go...And have some rook pie after :victory:

Moorhens are good so are their eggs, in fact most water birds are good.

What is the bird the French eat? they force feed it millet, then drown it in Cognac, then deep fry them. Wicked feckers, are they Reed Buntings? They are meant to be nice though :icon_redface:
