soon time to call it a day

Recommended Posts

ive been working my jills on the same field on and off when i can over the last few weeks, working the same burrows over and over.its now getting tougher to catch anymore rabbits even though i see some about here and there, mostly young though, that small they fit through the nets when they bolt.i was out today for a couple ours and managed to get the one rabbit,it was good to see the jill i had some doubts about her health doing what she does best, shes got a few undergroud the last few weeks and today i reckon she got 3-5 and when i put the rabbit into the hutch today, she wouldnt leave it alone.

so thats close to the 30 mark with a few pregnant for that one field and after going over the burrows so many times its maybe time to take a break from this field,or do you guys keep working same burrows no matter what?hopfully the farmer is happy enough.

its not the seasion for the rabbits yet. but if you are doing it to keep the farmer happy, then go like once a week. its a wast of time realy going ferreting when there is yung rabbits.

hi buddy,

if your working it all year round mate there isnt going be be many rabbits left give it a rest through the summer months  i understand the farmer wants them gone but just pop down show your face but leave the ferreting alone, it wont take long and there will be loads about again :big_boss:

You'll regret it when you wipe them out mate, and i hate nothing more (personally) than leaving dead rabbits underground and f*****g up the sets. Although farmers go on about wanting the rabbits gone, in reality, few expect total eradication, just a take down to manageable numbers. If all you are seeing is little uns i'd leave it and spend your time trying to get some more permission for proper ferreting.

With my days off and the amount of ground ive got it takes a month for me to get back to the same piece and that ensures the rabbits have had time to have another litter and theres always rabbits about ,i really wouldnt be doing the same field week in week out

Most likely the novelty will wear off mate. But as long as your happy, thats what counts.

Get yourself a locator tho if you are getting a lot of kills down there, that would be doing my head in.
