22lr Remington yellow jackets

Recommended Posts

I haven't any experience of the Yellow jackets but my mate purchased 1000 Rem subs and what a mistake that was. No two rounds had the same muzzle velocity, a total waste of money and I have seen other complain of the same.

My other experience of Remington's ammunition was to buy 100 of their 80 grain SP bullets in .243, the dimensions are all over the place.

However I love their 700's ;)

Hi

has anyone used these before in their 22!

How hard they hit?

I have used them before in my .22,

They are (if i remember the spec on the box) about 20ft/lbs more powerful then subs, but i found them to be rubbish due to the extra noise, they are also less accurate, i found groups go from about half inch at 50yds to about an inch and a half.

I wont buy any again as would rather have the accuracy/relative silence over the small amount of increase in power

Yes I've shot those cone nosed crackers a few times, I think I've still got most of a box left in my cupboard somewhere?

Anyway they are very loud, and not very accurate if compared to milder HV stuff like Winchester Lazer and Velocitor,(which are GOOD).

But also in fairness they are no worse than Stingers, probably a bit better.

My experience is that a good subsonic through a decent Rifle/Scope will kill anything .22 legal with ease, HV is a little bit

more powerful but really not very much! The only time I would consider HV on a regular basis is if I had a semi-auto to get

better cycling reliabilty, and as I've had several semi's in the past I won't be going down that road again!

It is going to come down to circumstances, quarry and rifle!

The Yellow Jacket HP were probably the BEST HV in my CZ and certainly more accurate than the CCI Velocitor, supply issues led me to use more Velocitors though. Simple fact is neither were great at all, and my .22lr has been a dedicated sub sonic tool for many years now!

The HV are ok for occasional use, but if you find you have a regular need for more grunt than .22lr SUBS then seriously consider a .22WMR or HMR.
