rob190364 2,594
I've got a MK3 locator that has some sort of fault, it's as if the battery is dying but it does it with brand new batteries....just a wierd tone and it'll only pick up collars less than 1 foot away, I've tried it with different collars and it's not having any of it. I know someone who's into micro electronics etc. but before I go over to his I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what might be wrong with it? Cheers Quote Link to post
Jamie m 668
Could be interference ? Make sure you try it outside away from the house , I found if it's picked up interference takes ten miniutes outside to recalibrate itself , or it may need recalibrating Quote Link to post

I hadn't thought that it might need recalibrating, do they do that automatically or is it something I need to get done? cheers Edited July 8, 2011 by rob190364 Quote Link to post

Jamie m 668
My mate brought one round that he'd been trying to use in the house, I don't know much about the internal workings but I know that is a no no from experience it was making some awful noises , after about half an hour in the garden messing about puting the locator right on the collar moving slowly away moving closer going from search to locate locate to search it lost the interferance and eventually was picking up acurate readings , but I've found turning them on in the house ain't good and they seem to store the interferance , even a plain old wire fence can send them off when out ferreting , not saying I know what's wrong with yours but worth a try oh and make sure you don't gave your mobile on you , Quote Link to post
