But they do need it when working hard, that is why they are given it. If you wait till the dog needs them to revive them then the damage has already been done A body will naturally pass any unused/u

Dehydration can be either a loss of fluid, a loss of electrolyte or a combination of both Sandy. Combination of both is the usual cause of dehydration

So you are saying using the correct levels of electrolyte replacement designed for dogs would actually do more harm then good? And lucozade full of additives and preservatives would be better because

Hi Moll - just checked the link. All looks good. Is the 500ml one serving or is this diluted with water? If so, how many servings do you get out of the 500ml bottle??? Thanks

Hello BS, yes it is to be diluted, tells you on the bottle how much for what kind of activity (pre/post running, illnesses etc) So servings per bottle are hard for me to predict. Usually 5-10 ml per go. The bottle i have, i have had for a long time, i only use it for long nights out (Before/during/after), not when just mooching around the farm

i was using liquid life aid, but got told, its not meant for dogs and was bad for them.

got a bottle of recharge, but fecking expensive over here!

cold bowl of water, a touch of milk and glucose, does the job i reckon, the odd egg beaten in, goes down nicely at times..

recharge is very good use it on the greyhounds and lurchers but also use stuff from vet or farm shop red stuff you dilute it down its half the price of recharge and top stuffits for sheep and cattle but a top greyhound vet sells it instead of recharge so gotta be ok .

I used to do the same John, but it is not the same as electrolytes for dogs, they have less ingredients

My pup the last 2 times on the lamp ended up with stiff muscles the next day that had to be massaged out. Would the electrolytes help stop this from happening?

Should do, but it all depends why the muscles were stiff FTB. If for example the dogs were not fit enough then it wouldn't do any good, if the muscles had been cramping because of dehydration then yes it would definitely help.

If you know you are going out for a long hard day/night in advance, soak and i mean swim, your dogs food in water for the feeds prior to work. Then electrolytes before you go out, during if you need to and when you get home and feed your dog give it more and soak the food in water again, you will see a massive difference
