andyfr1968 772
Hi, folks. I've already posted this in the 'general chat' section on THL so I'll apologise if you've read this before and already replied but I thought I'd post on here too. I had some interesting replys but after doing a little searching on the 'net, I didn't really come up with much, so..... I was out last weekend with a couple of friends on a permission by Wentworth, close to Pontefract when I saw a pair of what I am very sure were Eagles. They flew past me within about fourty yards or so quite low. I couldn't see if they were ringed as the sky was very bright. My friends also saw a third one which I didn't see, so I guess it was a family group. None of us are exactly keen twitchers but we do know the raptors that normally fly the skys around here. We see Buzzards on a regular basis and also the occasional Red Kite. Does any of you guys know what the score is with Eagles around my area? I've never heard of any sightings around here before and neither have my friends. Cheers. Edited July 6, 2011 by andyfr1968 Quote Link to post

Parabuteos lad 878
on the subject of hunts. when the ban came in, numerous hunts purchased eagles, without the knowledge of keeping them, because of this numerous eagles escaped. if these are not wild, they could well be escaped eagles that have bred Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Thanks for the replys, folks I guess they could be escaped hunt birds, I'd not thought of that. We don't really have anything to do with Wentworth Hunt but I'll ask about and post if I get any more information. They didn't have jesses on the birds, that much I could see. Thanks again for the replys. Cheers. Quote Link to post

How do you know numerous Eagles escaped? What species of Eagles were purchased? I would think facts would be beneficial, not speculation and assumption. Quote Link to post
