First cross saluki collie

Has anybody seen one run or ever heard of the first cross being produced.was just reading a fairystory about them(plummer book)...

Theres a small picture in understaing the working lurcher by jackie drakeford looks like a big handy dog to me but no info would have thought theyl be good stayers but lack speed

It would definately not be the dog for the beginer or come to that a good proportion of experienced people either.

Stamina would be second to none.

Sounds good, if it had the brains of a collie and the stamina of a saluki it would be a good dog.

 

But, what if it was the other way around?

would prefer a first cross collie hound dog over a 3/4 saluki 1/4grey bitch think the pups out of this breeding bread from decent parents would be top class allrounders.

i seen a couple a pics of 1, an by the owners admissions it was a nervous timid wreck, tho if an when it was only him an dog out, he said it come to life an was handy...

 

same guy had a flat coated retreiver x saluki an he rated that better

This is my experience of her.

Gorgeous looking dog.

Brilliant temperment but a real one man dog, very jelous of my girlfriend, tries to get inbetween us and push her away from me, and sulks if I come home and she can smell my girlfriend on me. Right temprement over working ability

Good on rabbits, been close to hares but the two she coursed the hares had a 200 yard head start. Had a couple of roe with her. She chases foxes but will never commit enough (i only chase edible anyway)

c**t to train but once she was she is spot on. I love her to bits but not everyones cup of tea. Is like to put a whippet grey over her to add some speed as she isnt blisteringly quick of the mark, good top end though considering no whippet or grey in her.
