It's a place I've always fancied to visit, I can remember when there was a bounty on rabbits, early eighties i think, and a noted local lurcherman went over never to return. I get there one day. ;)

Today July 5th is our national day here on the Isle Of Man , over 1000yrs off local parliment , here is local lad's The BEE GEES singin national anthem

.

is there still signs of the occupation?bet the old folks could tell a tale or two.although i have read that they were pretty respectable to the islanders.paid for goods in the stores and such like.maybe one day i will visit the island.another place i want to go is to normandy and belgium.

dont understand what you mean about occupation mate , ive been to a few places , Europe , America , but the 1 place ive always fancied is China .

meant during the war.wasnt the iom occupied by the germans,or was that guernsey?

typical gers man thick as fcuk :yahoo::haha: :haha:

typical rude tim,so i got the two mixed up.it was gurensey that was occupied.

Bosun , the bounty was 35pence a tail when work was a bit tight so it was handy , who was the lad from your area, unreal the numbers at the time , thats when say on here lads had 100 a night , people wont have it , but they did on numerous occasions , but never mind , there is a surge in rabbit population this summer , we always have plenty but a lot more than normal , so will have some fun this winter lamping/ferreting .

My grandparents visited the IOM in the 1965 and sent me a postcard when I was a few months old which I still have. My grandfatther was a miner who couldn't work following a bad pit accident. They never had much money and in those days the compensation was minimal if any. I think they probably visited the island as a holiday of a lifetime sort of thing...they spoke of it often. I will visit one day...looks lovely.
