steve66 3,338
Great picture , but never seen a red one in real life Do you cull the greys in the area to give the reds a chance or can they hold there own Territory ?
Moll. 1,770
We have quite a few up here, this one was on the window sill of the North lodge cottage of the castle. It takes the nuts from the feeder. Totally unbothered, brilliant to see so close. However we have been notified the greys are coming, been seen quite near I cannot understand why there is not some sort of defence put in place when grey are entering a known red area
steve66 3,338
You think they'd have some organized culling program to protect them

They is load's of differant digi camera's on the market Patrick ..and some of them are not that expensive but still take good picture's..much easier than messing about with the older 35mm film camera's.. . Millet 4,497
Nice shot's Pat but are you sure that is not a grey as it lack's the ear tuft's..
EskdaleHawks 8
I managed to get these last year on Brownsea Island Nice shot of a female red,Pat and possibly pregnant. Judging by the thickness of her coat, was the pic taken early in the year? If this pick had been taken in summer then the coat would have been sleak and shiny and she would have had 'Tufts'. Millet - Reds can be without tufts when they have their winter coat. I don't think there are any greys on Brownsea island. Brownsea and the Isle of White are the only two places in England, south of Anglsey where there are Reds. The pic of the Red you took in northumberland. It wasn't around the Lambley area was by any chance?
