id try getting the dog to chase a ball, striking at a moving object aint easy, no matter how easy lurchers makes it look once they got the knack of it....

an if the dog is used to catching a rolling ball an the likes then its only a matter of time, but id say take dog ferreting an usually the urge to grab a netted rabbit will make a dog use its mouth

ive had this problem recently with my dog shes slightly older than yours and bearded collie in both parents i done all the retrieving dummies etc but i coudnt see her commiting to the strike while on the lamp

we got a few droppers in the net and took em up a nice big field , nailed them and straight back to hand alive without a scratch on them !

try the droppers it worked for me

If you are running the pup with older dogs it could be she's holding back behind the more dominant dogs. Take her out on her own at dawn or dusk in places where the rabbits are feeding further out. Better still, wait until the autumn and take her ferreting: bolted rabbits are easier to catch than those running for home. Use the summer months to concentrate on training and having fun: when its not too hot of course.

one of my mates had this problem what we did was got a dead rabbit put it on to a dog lead and pulled it round in front of the dog till it started picking it up then praised the dog every time it picked the rabbit up it soon came right and he's never had a problem with the dog since. good luck hope the dog comes right for you
