was the dog that caused the injury destroyed, wouldnt like to think what could happen if they rehomed it to someone that didnt have a clue about it

Best of luck with your dog mate a small bit of advise for you is if you know any one with a cold lazer for treating injuries in atheletes try and get them to lazer the wound after the stitches are removed and it will speed up the healing process from the inside out ok

and if you are near a hydro pool (heated)a few gentle swims at first then build him up with gradual swims say 4xswims for 2mins each time then increase the 2min swim up to another 1 min every 2econd swim until you get to 8or 9 mins ok and try giving warm jacuzzi afterwards you will have him back in no time without putting too mutch pressure on the bad leg hope this helps ok

The swimming is a good idea and will work wonders, i cant however imagine that many hydrotherapy pool life guards will be cool with you cruising in there with whippet for a few lengths,

It might be an idea to try getting him swimming somewhere outdoors (thats safe, no current etc..)

if im not mistaken i kno somewhere near me who do the swimmings for animals but at a price! ill look into it!

Great Job Just add the bill onto the pile for the "sanctuary" Your dog was in perferct fitness before it was attacked and should be brought back into shape at their expense.

yep he's insured but as my dog was attacked by a sanctuary dog and i only live down the road, after 2 meetings with them they are covering all the costs of the vets

 

they have bought new harnesses leeds and muzzles which i made sure off, i cudnt stop it happening to my dog but any other lads who have dogs like mine atleast the procautions that r put in help a little!

 

Has the dog that did the damage been sorted?

If the buster collar is causing problems maybe try an inflatable ring? Or if he has a diddy neck a semi inflated kids arm band will do the same.

Something like this - Inflatable Collar

Will still stop him mucking with his wound but not so cumbersome.

I know that the lads dog got ripped up, and that's terrible, but that is mainly down to the lack of ability of the usual volunteer idiots they have at these places.

 

I don't think getting a dog put down for being dog aggressive is that fair, or going up to their charity dog show and parading the whippet round trying to convince folk not to adopt any of the dogs from there.

 

Yes, the person in control of the dog was a retard, but for all we know the dog could be known dog aggressive with other males, and that would not put him in an exclusive catagory, and should not mean you strive to stop any dog being adopted from the place, leading to them being destroyed.

It seems the mainproblem is their lack of control and inability to protect the general public from their own boarders. If it was a child that was attacked the dog would be put down no question. Let's hope they will learn from their mistake and this won't happen again or worse. I think the dog should at least be relocated to a facility that knows how to deal with it.

Only just caught this thread,Your doing a good job with the dog mate credit to you and goodluck with him in the future. Don't forget the hydrotherepy is to help his recovery and the bill should also be sorted by the sanctury responsible. I'm sure they would sooner do that than get some bad publicity.
