Semi Auto Hunting Shotgun Advice Needed

Hatsan are a good choice and they have a good range of models with a good backup warranty.

Most game shooters frown on the use of semiautos but if you make sure you always pick up your spent cartridges at the end of a shoot they will not moan .

If i was in your shoes i would save up a little and stretch your budget a bit. Although i have never owned a Hatsan Escort one of my friends did , but after a few months he had a lot of trouble with it , and it seems that numerous other people have too.

 

A few months ago i too was after a cheap auto loader ( my first ) but i saved up a bit more cash and bought a brand new Winchester SX3 12g and boy am i glad i did. It feeds everything that i put through it and the recoil is almost nill. There are many different models of the SX3 available , but i opted for the composite model as i liked the styling.

 

Whatever you choose i hope all goes well for you ,

If you buy a Hatstand,get it deactivated and use it as a hatstand mate,utter c--p,get a good used auto by a well known name,should get a s/h winchester x or a franchi ect for the price of one! dont do it dude,you will wish you had not

amen,i got a luigi franchi spring operated semi auto in 1989 and it was a second hand buy 150 pounds and i still got it only would not eject one cartridge in all those years and i never serviced or cleaned it once.

If your looking for an all rounder I would go for an over and under 12 bore, it will suit you for all shotgun shooting situations, if you can get one chambered for 3" even better.

My first gun was a Laurona which I loved I only paid £250.00 and wish I'd never sold it now.

A gun to consider would be a Lanber a few mates started with these and they are cracking guns for the money, the most important thing to consider is if the gun fits you be it a Laurona or a Holland and Holland, if it doesn't fit you you won't shoot it well. Seek a bit of advice on gun fit, read up on the net it's worth it
