bobslurchers 1
I dont know how much you know about parrots, so sorry if im teaching you suck eggs here. The parrots that are most likely to talk properly (a budgie can copy - but its not very clear) are the larger birds like african greys and macaws BUT these are also the guys that will live about 70 years on average. The smaller birds dont tend to speak particularly well BUT again there is no guarentee any bird will speak. Also make sure you have any parrot you buy checked by a vet for heath, as they can get very sick very quickly and end up costing you ££££ for specialist treatment. lurchergrrl 1,441
Parrots are very tricky pets. You have to have boundless patience and interest in them. Like dogs, they're a way of life and not something to be bought on a whim. Not for young kids either. A parrot bite HURTS, and any young parrot will bite, that's a given. If you really think she - and you - are committed enough for one, I'd suggest and hand raised Senegal. I had one and she was ace. Not too big, not too small. They say senegals are more mimickers than talkers but I can assure you if you spend the time ... endless time, mind ... they'll talk up a storm. http://www.unitedparrotbreeders.co.uk/senegal.html Don't get one from a pet shop. Do the research, find a breeder you trust and get a hand raised one. ... or get her a bike and save yourself the hassle! Parrots really are hard work - worth it, but not all bundles of laughs.
