lurcher330 2,297
these are 2 first x collie greyhounds the bitch in the last pic was 13 in that pic and still out doing an odd night lamping 16 now and still killing rats in the stable yard these are 2 3/4 bred pups from the old bitch the black and white one had to be PTS but the full black dog is 9 year old now and still at it nice looking dogs what do you find works better the first cross collie hounds or the 3 quater breed?? i prefer the 3/4 they have that little bit extra but i have had some very good 1st xs aswell the old bitch in them pics was hard to beat very nice mate .any pup going out of them down the line.im watching done deal for a 3quater breed but i dont think ill get what i want on there i have only ever bred him to 2 bitchs for friends of mine and the bitchs were saluki type and i was,nt to keen on them so i never kept a pup back but i would'nt mind crossing him back to an other 3/4 collie hound or maybe wheaten hound cause i would like a pup from him my self but no matter what bitch he covered it would have to be decent because i would'nt keep a pup just for sentimental reasons but i have had him from the start 9 years now so i would like something good from him no where your coming from mate,my first dog was a pure breed greyhound who was too nervous to run on the track got her for free, took her home and after a few months had her on my side she turned out a super bitch imo, took all game even drawed was young and stupid though and never got her lined to a decent dog.if i had my time back again i would of found a good working collie for her. the old bitch in the pics was bred fro a working greyhound bitch that was quick enough to race but would'nt break the traps and the sire was a working collie used for cattle he was only a small dog but he was a hardy little fcuker the man that had him still has collies from the same line doing the same job but they are all bitchs and he wont breed a litter of lurchers from 1 of them .i did have a bitch pup off him before but she did'nt suit the life she was getting so i gave back so she could do what she was bred for but if i realy wanted a stud dog he would get one for me but im not into breeding a litter just to get one pup and when you do ye might not even get the best pup from the litter its a gamble alright mate but if you have good stock breeding its half the battle.alot of rubbish being breed around this area .lads just trying to make a quick buck.if you know of any well breed 3 quater collies down the road you might give me a shout atb no bother mate Quote Link to post

Yes, this is the first breeding I have done of this sort. However, I have spoken to a lot of people that have this type of dog and seen quite a few photos of this kind of dog. Its just that there is such a vast difference between the dogs (in looks) that I just wanted to see more of them. The majority of them seem to be smooth coated dogs, but there are also a few that crop up that lean more towards the Collie in looks. Quote Link to post

jambay5 191
here mate Bryn 1x colliegrey 25in great rabbit dog day+night.bred by hawcroft on here. But to be honest mate , as good as they are at there job, the temp can piss you of being (to) robtic+sensitve .You need collie in a lurcher i think as they will do most jobs and do them very well, but a 1/4 is plenty i think I agree Bird, mine the same ok when out working, but around the house and garden if some farts he jumps a mile!
