even if Tom would have only been to ground for a couple of times, would it make him a less worthy dog ?

It would surley make it an unproven dog and therfore not a breeding prospect

Wex nice to see you here again have you ever realized that we are all europeans with antis all over and instead of standing together to fight our overpowered opponents we slander each other like chi

when did a dog prove its worth in your oppinion? what do you expext from a dog before you breed him? after 10 foxes, after 100 or after 500 or more? how many digs? how many hard foxes? badgers? gameness?

you see maybe i do expect a lot, a lot from my own dog (and i really do!!!) before i am satisfied with him and maybe your proven dog means nothing to me or my proven dog is shit for you, but because there is no objective criteria that tells us that a proven dog is a dog with f.ex. 500 foxes, 50 badgers aso, from that point on everyone of us defines himself when a dog has proven its quality...and if the dog produces himself also very good workers why question the dogs quality, since a more objective prove is not possible.

it would be nice to have also some answers or oppinions on the questions i asked in my post before concerning the trust in the quality of the famous dogs of the past? how many of the more famus dogs have been seen in action by the users of the board? i hardly doubt that many of them have been seen in the middle of a dig, rather than on a foto. don´t we trust their quality because they produced, and are producing first class workers?

it would be nice if such a duscussion could be held without f..... words etc. it is a pitty that respect is something that is often forgotten....

best regards to all

At the end of the day if the guy paid the money for the dogs then can he not do with them what he wants? Fair enough if if someone did buy line bred dogs and outcrossed them which I see no evidence of in this thread some terriermen may frown upon it but they're his dogs to do with what he wishes. Worker to worker breeding as long as that guideline is followed then what does it matter about lines???? JMO

Agree.

Must be a bit of history here that folk don't know about, i don't anyway.

I don't know Chris, Steezy or Rudi, neither do i know anyone else on this forum but i don't go calling them for doing as they like with their dogs.

I lived for some years in Germany and if anybody doubts how seriously they take they're hunting best thing to do is take up the invite and go visit the place. Nice people, nice countryside, nice food and fairly decent beer. :drink:

Whatever you do with the terriers in those pictures they certainly look in good fettle. :)

Tell me Rudi, would you class yourself as a commercial breeder, and how much on average would you sell your pups for.

Old Nuttall means absolutely naff all if the current stuff your breeding out of isn't tested, shame that the line has gone the way it has due to the ideas of some. A shame for the breed no doubt about it, that people like Brian have sold out to the yanks and europeans that are only interested in seeing pound signs in their eyes.

...but i can ! Hey Nelson you don´t like our Girls ? !

is it allowed to offend someone only for another opinion ? That is a f......g Messer ! ! !

Who from you that answerd or offend did Tom seen working ? ... no one ? ... so who of you can say the dog is proven ? ... right no one of you !

We invite people like MACK to come to our country to do some Badgerdig´s and some beer , because they are honest people ! Hope he will come this year to work with us , than you can ask him about the unproven Dog´s you only got in your mind ! A few people should see that there is more then them in this game , they are not the BIg Dude´s they want to be !

What is unproven ? unproven in Earth ? "if" ( you don´t know it ) Tom would be a unproven worker ...pfffft he´s proven Producer of more than average Worker´s all over this part of europe on every quarry !

People Like R.Cloot ( one of the oldtimer´s here with the most knowledge about Terrierwork i know ) using him as a stud and got very good dog´s off him , that they would do this breeding ever again , the dog can´t be a unproven Producer !

My mate Chris here put some Pic´s in to show the people here and respect for the Breeder of the dog´s known as Pickaxe , why you now can´t respect that they are good dog´s ?

... envy ? jealousy ?

Tom is a "proven" Producer of Working Terrier that´s a fact !

Greeting´s

Look, not trying insult anyone but the guy put in his post that if a dog had only 1 or 2 digs to his credit, would that make it less worthy.........well to me....Yes, as a breeding prospect it would.

Secondly, he came on name dropping about a bloke who has done all the hard work and produced a line of top dogs, so then surley if he had so much RESPECT for the fella he would ask him what he considers proven and a breeding prospect........then if he really had respect, he would follow that blokes rules to the letter.

Who said that , that is unproven stock ???

I don´t want to hear that what i´m doing is bang on ... maybe it is or maybe not ! someone throw a word in this thread and than few jumping on it like hungry hyena´s in the desert on a dead rabbit ! but no one of them that said that really know it ! and for sure are differences in hunting in our country´s ! And different huntingstyle , need different dog´s , but what´s wrong with a dog that Produces very good workers ?

Not only Brian has sold dogs to the "yanks&europeans" but whats wrong with that? This man is the one&only true godfather of the patterdaleterrier no matter how hard you displace that and he has forgotten more about terriers than most of you will ever know.Anyway has the breed suffered from it and be assured someone interested in a money making thing will definately bring jack russels over or west highland whites or any other well known race to breed from. They sell like cookies for big money over here, never ever will the patterdales!

Since i was a boy i grow up with and kept/bred always "tested/proven" working terriers but in all the years no one knowing me has ever asked me if i would class myself a commercial breeder because in the end i never earnd money from my dogs?It was always an money investing lifestyle to better up a certain breed to hunt with and if i truely had some bucks left i re-invested it into the breed to better up the lines over here.Btw to make a living i still earn my money as a manual worker so Shay its up to you as a f*****g nobody to call me a "commercial breeder of old nuttall non tested patterdales with $ in eyes"!lol :)

Once again whats up with all you "terrier-preservers" ie chiefs, fellmans, wilfs&shaws paying good ol`germany a visit for that huge "german Patterdale-evidence-convention"?Hope we ll find enough quarry to show you we have good ones too but first of all you need to come over in person!?Lets get it on and hire a bus to bring you all back and forth!

Rudi

PS:

Honestly i am not 100% sure if you guys are messing around with us germans?Maybe its one and the same person behind all them synonyms who in the end has a pretty good laugh about us?

Can't say fairer than that then, a trip to Germany to see some working dogs. You lucky b'stards. Somehow i can't see Fellman in a mixed sauna though. :icon_eek:

Have a good trip lads. ;)

Where abouts are you living Rudi ?
