Country Joe 1,411
Hi, hope this question isn't too stupid, I have kept Ferts for years, but always cut a corner out with heavy mesh, and a bucket underneath, now starting up again, have decided to try a Litter tray for the first time, the ones I have seen are about 4 inches deep I take it, that doesn't matter, they will still climb in, where's the best place to get a tray? and I take it, the Cat litter should be Wood, or paper based, not Fullers Earth, is this right? CheersCJ. Quote Link to post
joe14 98
Get a large square cheap tray from wilkos i found ferrets seem to prefer it when they can get their whole body in the tray not like them triangle ones. I use woodbased litter in theirs, just the cheap stuff think its called beuticat. Make sure you fasten the tray down somehow or buy two of the same tray fasten one down and put the other one inside it 1 Quote Link to post

I have 3 litter trays in my set up, they are cheap ones from the £1 shop about 3 inches high and use pets at home lightweight cat litter, it's like small White stone chippings about £6 a big sack. Makes life easier when cleaning out. Quote Link to post

Yeah Ferret litter tray usually really overpriced-£10 and often aren't used if not big enough http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/cat-litter+trays/wilko-cat-litter-tray-large-assorted/invt/9532740/?source=134_4 Wilko- £1.75 for the large. Though above says fasten down as they will have fun tipping it over- make sure it can be removed completely though to get behind as they always have some fun aiming behind the box! Quote Link to post
jackwhippet 3
I made little turn locks out of some old oak net pegs to hold the trays in place then when it comes to wash them out I turn the things horizontal and take the tray out. Best Regards B JW Quote Link to post
stroller 341
mine wont use them they shit everywhere but in the tray up the walls over the side and when i put fresh litter in they bulldoze it out of the tray using their heads its funny to see. I took out the trays and i just put shavings back in and clean the corners out every day in this weather Quote Link to post
Neal 1,867
I've found exactly the same as Stroller. Whenever I try putting in any kind of litter tray it just makes them crap outside it, even if I wait a day and put some of their own in. They're a law unto themselves. I've even got a rescued ferret at the moment which does it on top of their sleeping box. Quote Link to post
