Not a fan of Yamaha as the engines and gearboxes go bang if you ride them hard.

lol.............

keep em coming...

dont forget this bike has done pushing 300000kms..

this thread was not about r1 v busas,,i was just trying to show people that it dont matter what you ride,, its still possible to get round the world on machines that dont look the part..

this lad was a one man band,, and a pleasure to meet..

not a ewan/charley with a full backup team behind them...

great thread mate, nice to see it's still possible, my dad rode overland with my mum on a brand spanking Laverda Jota 1200 back along that's still in the garage, one owner from new! love hearing the stories from that and would love to do it when I'm older, although I have the greatest amount of respect for charlie and ewan, some of the photo's mum and dad have are just incredible, on a scale that ewan and charlie never got to!

hhaha, unfortunately not! very similar looking, but theres quite a few differences. Heres a link to the specs if your interested

SFC1000 - http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/laverda/laverda_1000sfc%2085.htm

Jota 1000 - http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/Laverda/laverda_1000_jota%2082.htm

doesn't really go into a huge amount of detail but its a good at a glance comparison.

bet its a monkey bike....lol........................

this and that these days , im afraid im a suzuki nut thru and thru , i took a mates R6 for a spin the other day and it just rekindled my hatred for them.

i was blowing away turbo R1's with a standard hayabusa 10 years ago , you wanna go fast in comfort get a busa not one of them things.

'there goes anothe-R 1' OR gsxRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR You decide lol

always makes me laugh when someone is obsessed with a certain make of bike or car and therefore every other bike/car is shit! These people usually just blindly buy the same make over and over again and won't even consider another make, I find it a bit bizarre to be honest. And comparing a Hayabusa to an R1??? It's not really the same type of bike is it! R1 and GSXR fine, but not a Hayabusa. A Hayabusa would piss on most things in a drag race but put it on a track against an R1 and it'd be a different story. A veyron would piss on a ferrari in a drag race, doesn't mean a ferrari is shit does it!!

And you might not be a fan of the R1 but you can't deny that when the R1 came out it pushed the boundries forward a mile, it p'ssed on everything else in it's class! and it took everyone else a few years to catch up!

Great achievement by this guy by the way, is he a small bloke? having done a few longish rides I can't imagine how uncomfortable an R1 would get after such a long journey!

i suppose it's like dogs isnt it ?

dont get me wrong ive had a few good uns ie: rd's / ccm's etc but always went back to suzuki , good strong engines that take some going to lunch em.

i think what pissed me off with the R1 was it is too track committed , not a bad thing thats for sure but left a lot of widows in the process.

it didnt take honda long to fire a good one back at yammy tho did it but people got R-blind and was nothing but a 'must have' , you wanna go fast on the road you dont need much more then a good 600 or 750.

quote 'the hayabusa X1 was born on the race track'

i guess going round the world on a R1 is something special but it could be done on any bike
