LoganSinclair 0
Hi guys, Well i've got a Golden retriever that i want to train to retrieve for me, (when i go out shooting), but the only thing is, is that it's a 7 Year Old Dog and i was wondering if i would still be able to get it to retrieve? If i would be able to get it to, does anybody have any suggestions on how i could train it? Thank you. ATB Logan. Quote Link to post

ATB Logan. well the name retriever means they are great at retrieving but a 7 year old dog might be another thing mate.but theres no harm in trying is there? i would just throw a ball or a sock and if the dog even picks it up and carries it your on to a good thing .if it does the above just go down to the dogs level and make a right fuss it normally makes the dog want to investigate the [fuss] then if the dog comes to you give it a treat and end the game. next day do the same but do it once more then end it .after a week or so you should see results ,if not either persevere or just admit the dog is spoilt being 7yrs old with no training .i reckon the dog will come good mate atb billy Quote Link to post
