Too hot to be sat in...........Rifle in bag, mags loaded, petrol and fags....check, 2ltr bottle of semi-frozen orange and im off down the A19 Nobody wanted to play out with me today adam choosing the pub (part timer) Darryl away in the truck, Gary broken down in the works van, soooooooo...just little me Me and adam have promised the rabbits that live on the permission im going to a break, let the numbers get back up, so today its all about the feathered kind As usual i have a chat with will (farmer) and im across the farm yard to my "starting spot" which again (also the last 3 times) theres woodys sat out way out in the field though so im gunna have to stalk, i circle round to the right of the birds, with a hedge between me and them but the only decent gap in the hedge leaves me still 60 yards away, so i get down and wait, and wait, and wait, 20 minutes gone and they havent moved closer that much, so as theres no wind at all, i take the shot.........miss!! All three are still sat there so i adjust and booosh!! slump.....and one dead woody, this puts the other 2 up and off, one in the bag Im sweating my tits off just from sitting, so its back to the car and a change of cammos, ive got some really light summer gear, practically see through, and i dont bother with cammo bottoms (as the title says, my bollocks have lost a pound in weight through percipitation!!) haha Right lets walk on the shady side of the fields, the grass was cut 2 weeks ago, but its shot back up and is now about 2ft high, ill have no joy in this field, i make my way to the pylon meadow, where i get my next shot, A rook perched in one of the oaks, 40 yards, i take the lazy option and drop to the bipod, thwack, Mr rook comes crashing through the trees Now those of you who shoot crows/rooks will know that its pals dont like it very much, and they come out of the woodwork to investigate, this proved to be costly for a young crow, as he landed in the top of a tree 35 yards infront of me, sticking out like a sore thumb, He was dropped in a second The rook was in the tree on the right, and the crow landed in the closer tree The others have lost interest and have stopped mobbing, so i go and retrieve my 2 prizes Im soaking wet with sweat, and in need of a drink so i make my way back to the car (1 mile away) and thats enough to finish me off, im going home for a freezing cold shower :wacko: End result = 1 woody and 2 black demons Atb peter Edited June 27, 2011 by millsy44 1 Quote Link to post
