jamie g 17
they seam good rifles from all the people that have commented on them on different forums. ive never shot one but handles a couple in the gun shops. trigger would need a bit of adjusting as it seams pretty heavy. also I don't like the plastic stocks that are on them. they look like they flex a bit to me. still your going for a wooden thumbhole so that wont matter to you. most rifles these days will do 1 inch with factory ammo and 1/2 with reloaded ammo at 100 yards. so I wouldn't worry about that. are you planing on buying the rifle new ? reason I ask is there are a lot of rifles second hand out on the net at moment. At very good prices so worth looking about before parting with your pennys. atb jamie Quote Link to post

f.a.c.sam 1
Another Howa owner here, as others have said the trigger is the worst part about this gun, to say it is agricultural is an understatement. I am probably a bit more picky though as I have been spoilt with air rifle 2 stage jobbies, but I suppose if that's all your used to you'll get used to it. Mine shoots pretty much everything, currently shooting american eagle 55gr at £8 a box they are probably as cheap a 223 round as you can get, even if you reload. Get about an inch at 100 and 2.5" at a push at 200. Took a great shot on a fox cub at 150 yards on saturday night and it didn't even flinch dropped straight on the spot. Excellent rifles and I have heard highland outdoors have got a job load left over from either new zealand or australia can't quite remember, which they will be knocking out a package deal for around £700, rifle scope and mod so I'd have a word with them before you go anywhere else.
