mate have them drinking milk together but keep him/her on a lead and if he goes to bite the ferret a firm yank on lead and no correct the dog whenever it goes for the ferret :) once the season is in and up and running take it ferreting a couple off times and they will be fine in the end :)

Thanks for the tips lads il let you know how i get on

Lots of correcting and time and put it on the leed when ferrets are on the floor. every time it goes to get the ferret pull the leed and say no , the more time you put in the easier it will get , try leting it see and smell the ferrets before you put them on the floor then sit on the floor with the dog for a good while and if it goes for the ferrets keep correcting it , as said once it realises that ferrets bolt rabbits and a ferrets not a rabbit the partnership should form ,

Has anyone got any tips on breaking a lurcher to ferrets my lucher is 17weeks old ive let her smell the ferrets she seems ok ish when i put the ferrets on the floor she trys to bite them

i had to this wit my terrier which was 1, now his steady as a rock with them, first of let your dog sniff the ferrets let this go on for a couple of weeks, so he knows the scent, then get them out and hold them in front of him, put the ferrets in an area where they are safe put the dog on the lead, if he goes for them, make sure he knows he has done wrong, but dont be agressive, keep doing this for a period of time, and above all dont rush it, youve got a while till the season come round
