its knowing you and your dog are a team and and the buzzz is great knowing all your hard work has come together when you see it working at its best.

Totally agree with yappydoo. You spent the time on training and getting into the way of working together with your dog and the excitement that comes with taking him out. Watching the thrill of the chase and not knowing for sure if hel get it or it will get away. My mate shoots foxes with the rifle an he asked me to tag along one night, I went and held the lamp for him. Noone left the jeep the whole night as as soon as 1 was spotted the rifle was raised and it was dead in a split second hunt over!! He got 4 in the space of an hr n half and I was bored shitless. I don't see any excitement in it at all. Not slating the shooters as everyone's ideas and interests are different...... oh and took my shooting mate out lamping with the dog and he loved every minute of it!

Read a report recently that said that since the hunting ban, the fox population in this country has dropped a fair bit, and in some areas almost totally. The biggest culprit being the 'sportsman' who use night vision and a rifle, not to shoot those foxes that NEED to be controlled, but to shoot as many foxes as possible, a few nights a week, most of the year. It's not even har to do, so i don't know why folk pat themselves on the back so much.

Not all folk who shoot are wankers, i shoot myself, a gun is a useful tool for doing certain jobs, but it's those who just like to rack up the numbers and get a buzz just from pulling a trigger and blasting something, then taking some snaps and showing folk on a forum.

We used to see the odd fox in the daytime and a good few at night in areas round here now where you are lucky to see one all year. But it was pest control wasn't it? I mean i'm sure the wheat and maize is a lot safer now.

It certainly ain't hunting in my eyes.

Some posts again from cloud cuckoo land i see....... Who gives a f**k if someone enjoys shooting foxes rather than running them with dogs. Some people dont have the time, space or money to keep a dog anyway. Stop slating someones elses 'sport', yes sport, just because you dont agree. The irony in the 'wanker' post is genius.......... :whistling:

Just cos you raise pheasants and foxes are a pain in the ass for you, does not mean every fox, everywhere needs to be eradicated desperatly. If my 'sport' is cattying roosting pheasants out of trees, albeit, just over the estate boundries, you'd have something to say, same if my sport was netting the rivers where folk like to do a bit of fly fishing, doubt many would be happy???

It's not about guns vs dogs for me, it's just about this twisted desire to kill them ALL, it's totally uneccessary, and for most as there is f**k all exciting about the 'hunt' (cos its not a hunt), the most excitement they can get is taking the photos and rushing off to get some kudos of others on the net etc. It's also a piece of piss with a rifle, my missus could manage it after less than an hours tuition.

Fair do's where it's neccessary, but when your doing it night after night for 'sport' i just can't stomach it, but that's me.

As said before, some folk kill to have hunted and some folk only 'hunt' to have killed (dogs or guns, makes no difference to me).

kind of agree you do have to wonder some folk just have to shoot fox cause there they can and some folks come out and run there dogs on fox when they have no connection to that piece of ground what so ever. to me it matters not your chosen sport it just matters that you do it respectfully

Look mate i'm not going to get into an arguement with you but the fact is this........if someone with a lurcher went out and got 10 chases then he wants to get 10 in the bag..... say any different then your lying, you only have too read half the stuff on here to realise that numbers to some folk are pretty important. And i wouldn't have a go at the shooting lads putting up pictures of there fox kills cause you know fine well that if there wasn't a ban on hunting with dogs there would be that much pictures and videos of fox bashing you;d be here for a week getting through them.....

What would you say if someone came on here and said that he found ferreting rabbits a no no because the rabbit had no chance of getting away because they get caught in the net......i'd think anti........similar scenario???????

As for the pheasants and the fishing yes folk would be annoyed at that because they would have shelled out money for that for you to come along and f**k it up..........no one owns foxes so you have no right to them.......FACT!!!!!

I dont know why i bother actually, i very rarely shoot any foxes, only ones that stray onto my land and i finish them quick cause i have birds to think off. On the other hand i wouldn't want to run around the countryside shooting everyone i see but i'm not so childish that i would knock someone for doing so!!

Aye mate, that's the thing, for me it's not so much to do with gun vs dog (although shooting is a piece of piss and many shooters have zero connection to the countryside), it's more just to do with the culture of kill as many as you can wherever you find them, which is obviously far far easier with a rifle than a dog. We even get bellends on the back of jeeps firing from the roads round here at foxes on the lamp then racing off and leaving it dead in the field (plenty of folk poach with guns).

Fairplay mate, it's only an opinion isn't it? I was in no way trying for an argument, so keep your shirt on.

And once again i would like to make the point that for me it has nowt to do with dogs vs guns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's just about an attitude.

There are many folk with the same attitude with dogs, but luckily the time, effort, quality of livestock etc is just not there for them to achieve it, whereas if you cannot achieve it with a rifle, your a fecking embarassment.

In the name of bio-diversity and equalibrium, foxes are a neccessary part of our countryside
