Some posts again from cloud cuckoo land i see....... Who gives a f**k if someone enjoys shooting foxes rather than running them with dogs. Some people dont have the time, space or money to keep a dog anyway. Stop slating someones elses 'sport', yes sport, just because you dont agree. The irony in the 'wanker' post is genius.......... :whistling:

Just cos you raise pheasants and foxes are a pain in the ass for you, does not mean every fox, everywhere needs to be eradicated desperatly. If my 'sport' is cattying roosting pheasants out of trees, albeit, just over the estate boundries, you'd have something to say, same if my sport was netting the rivers where folk like to do a bit of fly fishing, doubt many would be happy???

It's not about guns vs dogs for me, it's just about this twisted desire to kill them ALL, it's totally uneccessary, and for most as there is f**k all exciting about the 'hunt' (cos its not a hunt), the most excitement they can get is taking the photos and rushing off to get some kudos of others on the net etc. It's also a piece of piss with a rifle, my missus could manage it after less than an hours tuition.

Fair do's where it's neccessary, but when your doing it night after night for 'sport' i just can't stomach it, but that's me.

As said before, some folk kill to have hunted and some folk only 'hunt' to have killed (dogs or guns, makes no difference to me).

kind of agree you do have to wonder some folk just have to shoot fox cause there they can and some folks come out and run there dogs on fox when they have no connection to that piece of ground what so ever. to me it matters not your chosen sport it just matters that you do it respectfully

Aye mate, that's the thing, for me it's not so much to do with gun vs dog (although shooting is a piece of piss and many shooters have zero connection to the countryside), it's more just to do with the culture of kill as many as you can wherever you find them, which is obviously far far easier with a rifle than a dog. We even get bellends on the back of jeeps firing from the roads round here at foxes on the lamp then racing off and leaving it dead in the field (plenty of folk poach with guns).

thats it mate why would anyone poach a fox :icon_eek: now the fur market has gone seems there is no gain there to me so it must be all about the kill and nothing else

The bottom line is you choose what you like and you go and enjoy it. Whether thats running a dog or shooting then the choice is yours. Its nothing to do with gun vs dogs for me either.....it just the blatant disrespect for another mans chosen sport that gets on my tits.

Personally myself i would rather raise a pup, get it fit and healthy and put it too the test against the game out there but thats not for everyone.......why knock someone for chosing different...

No idea what you are saying / asking mate?

As to your other point, you again try to make it totally about guns vs dogs etc, when as said its about your ATTITUDE toward it all, no matter your chosen method of dispatch. It's just a lot easier to full-fill that attitude / desire when a gun than a dog, for many many reasons.

As for 'disrespecting another mans fieldsport' - again I AM NOT HATING THE SPORT, just the way many carry it out. I shoot, fish, hunt with dogs, ferret, beat, use a catty, snare, trap all sorts and can find really distatseful practices in them all.

To be fair, on here, the biggest group of dickheads that get on my tits, own running dogs!

You said 'Yup' to Dans comment leading me to believe that you think people running foxes are in it 'just for the kill'.......i disagreed saying the chase was a big part of it.....hope i've cleared that up for you....

And here lies the thing.....you have an opinion that there are distasteful ways in each chosen sport, distasteful too you but not too others so that doesn't make you right mate. Maybe if peoples own opinions are disrespecting others chosen sport they'd be better kept to themselves.....

Very good post. Respect and control is how it should be, not bloodlust and eradication. Whether dogs or guns there is a big difference between hunting and getting a kick out of killing anything anywhere just because you enjoy it.

We were both talking about folk with rifles poaching foxes from the road mate, and hence, if it aint your fox, ain't your land, and your not even getting the thrill of the chase. . . . . it's just to rack up the numbers  Or the thrill of pulling a small piece of metal a couple of millimeters. . . .

Hey, when did i say i was right? I just offered my opinion? As you are doing?

It's a forum for discussion and debate matey, if we all kept our mouths shut for fear of offending, it would be a pretty dull place. As long as it is done in an intelligent manner and not just 'f**k them shooters, f*****g c**ts" etc i don't see the problem???

And whats with all this "Are you disrespecting my sport" you sound like an extra from the godfather! :tongue2: I'm not disrespecting the sport, i'm disrespecting certain people and their actions. . . . . . ..

i dont find shooting a sport a sport is wear u compete against something.how can a fox compete with ye the poor bugger has no chace ye can take them out from 250 yards without them having a clue yer there.fair enough when ye have 2 controll them on pheasent beats.a lot of lads in the shooting game just go out for numbers given fine healty fit foxs no chance.

Yup

Are you sure.... :icon_eek: If that was the case then why not trap them and through them in the kennel...? I'd have thought the chase was the exciting part..... :hmm:

We were both talking about folk with rifles poaching foxes from the road mate, and hence, if it aint your fox, ain't your land, and your not even getting the thrill of the chase. . . . . it's just to rack up the numbers :thumbs:Or the thrill of pulling a small piece of metal a couple of millimeters. . .

:tongue2: I'm not disrespecting the sport, i'm disrespecting certain people and their actions. . . . . . ..

And thats just it...... they like doing that and thats there choice. Would you critise someone who played chess, after all its just a few pieces moved about a board mate..... :hmm:

Right al finish with this as its going nowhere and people are stuck in there ways......if you dont lke another mans sport in the hunting world then dont make a comment on it, simple! You can hate it all you like but bringing it down and causing a bigger divide between supposedly hunting minded folk is bollocks in my eyes........ :bye:
