scothunter 12,609
if your dog is looking and performing well, with no stomach upsets, then my advice to you would be stick with what you are feeding it.thing is most lads will tell you this is shite or that is shite, cause they dont happen to use it. i use bakers, but only as a mixer.cpl handfulls with his meat and veg.have done since he was a pup.never had any probs with skitters or tummy upsets.I never have fed dry as its sole food.like i said its only a mixer for me. Lab 10,979
Used to feed vitalin but one day the guy that delivers it had none left and i changed to Coby dog, its £12 for 15kg. I thought i recognised it as a shit make but i've been really suprised. You could pick there shite out with your hands and the 2 big dogs are pretty much dry and white. Its 21% protein but i'll be adding meat when they start working in a month or so...

Gunner123 103
Cheap dog food, canny believe my eyes! I wouldnt want to be a working dog in any of you lots kennels. Bust my balls in the field to be fed like a cow, fer f**k sake lads wise up. You wouldnt put sub grade fuel into a ferrari would you, theres enough information in this section of the forum to write a book on feeding a mixed varied diet of meats and veggies. Theres lads on here that should speak up a bit more because i know they bite their lip everytime they read this nonsence. Advice is free, take it. Its one of a few things in this day and age that is! gnipper 6,467
When mine get dry at the mo they are getting davies ranger chicken and rice which I pay about £18 a bag for, my mate turns his nose up at it saying he pays half that for some dr johns but his kennels look like theyve had curry sloshed all over them every day and it smells the same as it went in when it comes out

No wonder your waiting Scot........well here it is buddy!!......Annoys me when i read this bollocks so it does, its cheap "DOG FOOD" not cheap cat food for ffs. Why should i spent a fortune on top brand stuff or feed them on the highest quality BARF when any exersion is a walk?????????? They do get meat added when they are working, of course they do. If i was lazing about on holiday for 6 months i dont see why i would need the same amount of food intake if i was working for six months....... My dogs are fit, healthy, never burn out on shoot days........your "NOT" a better dog man/trainer just because you spend £100 a week on dog food rather than £20 a week!!!
sandymere 8,263
I’ve used Dr Johns Gold in the past, along with meat and bones etc, dogs did OK on it, held condition and worked well about £9 for a 15kg bag. At the moment there’re on Skinners duck and rice, about double the price.

It was better i may add for my older dogs. When i moved my pups on too it i wouldn't say there shit was just as hard as i would have liked it. Never stopped them looking fit though and they have muscled up great. Be interesting to see how your running dogs do on it compared to my gundogs.......................
