david2363 42
I'm sure JP sent a couple of terriers out to the Falklands for fox control in the 's. Quote Link to post
destiny 0
I'm sure JP sent a couple of terriers out to the Falklands for fox control in the 's. If there were any sent out then it would have been to the 2 outer islands which have introduced fox populations. Apart from those there are no foxes in the Falklands...plenty of rats though! Being such a small place we did enquire with those who have terriers (there are a couple of borders, a yorkie and a few JR) but all of these are neutered/spayed pampered pets! Terriers aren't really thoguht of as working dogs here as the mentality is for sheep dogs only (and much of what is considered the signs of a good working dog comes from a load of old wives' tales)! Cheers for all your help, you're a star! To anyone else reading this: This thread had actually been pretty much put out to pasture, but I thought it would be only polite for me to answer the question about foxes in the islands. Hence why I replied and unfortunately refreshed an old post! Edited July 26, 2011 by destiny Quote Link to post

forest of dean redneck 11,530
all was trying to say was instead of going to expence of importing in , try whats to hand some farm dogs collies etc self enter and even a terrier thats been a pet for years can wake up when given the chance. just because its a pet or neutured doesnt mean it cant start ratting if encouraged.
