Beddy Grey

Maybe you nearly lost two dogs coz you aint as good of a dog man as you think! I have seen two dogs both smooth coated die one my own at the end of the summer and one.in the winter months. So imo a dogs coat dont make to much diffence aslong as you use your head!

totally understand ive had 14 dogs all differant crosses over years so i wont take the lack of experiance dig but i agree i should have kept an eye on not over working them ive since learnt from my mistakes thats what lifes all about thanks for your input though.

How long you kept dogs? Where these dogs you have based your knowlage all lurchers?

16 years all lurchers. not being out of intreast how many lurchers have u had over how many years

14 dogs in 16yrs :icon_eek: I done 8yrs with one dog then bought a whippet to take over on the bunnys bred and kept two bull x's to do other stuff found one a new home and replaced it for another bullx that got dumped on me, also had 3 greys two of which i moved on and the one that died would of still of been here now. Got a nice little team here now and thats me for the next 4yrs or so.

good on ya it does take time to find a team thats why ive been through a few dogs i did have 7 last year but down to the

3 now like u say thats it for a few years the only dog i lost was my first bull cross when i was 16 unfortunalty through my lack of experiance she coursed a rabbit stright into an oak tree i was gutted for years still am now. ive got a good dog very simular now he takes everything on his own but hes very arragant which lets him down i bred a litter of beddy whippit dam and the sire was a saluki greyhound ive got mates that had the pups and there brillent dogs i love them to bits but never been big into names and bloodlines i prefer to do my own thing i.e breed my own and swap with mates with house hold prooven stock so i suppose in that sence even with 16 year experience i am lost when it comes to blood lines good to chat catch u soon

Thanks for all the replies.

Would a Beddy Whip x Grey make a better all rounder and obviously should throw a smoother coat. Also might throw a slight taller dog?

I think I will go for beddy for next dog, just need to decide wether beddy x grey or beddy/whip x grey.

Hammerdan - hope the missus and baby are all okay.

as i have said before i have seen quite a few beddie/greys work a good friend of mine had a cracker.the ones i have seen dogs 23 bitches 22-23 generally speaking. have seen a few beddie/whippet/greys work size varied 21-23 the ones i seen.cant say why the beddie/greys are not more popular these days.i am sure there are beddies about who would produce a good lurcher when put to a greyhound. i own a beddie he is only used for ferreting rillington bloodlines going back generations on the sires side gutchcommon on the dams side.the reason i have a beddie for ferreting is because i cant use a lurcher for ferreting on my permission. the right bedlington can add nose determination prey drive good jaw feet etc. i am sure some people on the working bedlington forum have some decent beddies who would produce decent lurchers when put to greyhounds whippet/greys or whippets. if you go for a beddie cross atb with your search.

All i can say is i have and still own a heartbreak dog i have ran him into the ground and he's never jacked or turned his nose up at anything, prey drive through the roof (still is) still gets out to put the boot in every now and again at 12 1/2, solid head, real strong jaw power, brilliant coat, excellent nose, the list goe's on and on. If i could have another i would but imo they dont come like this anymore, if im wrong show me where they are coz ill take one.

a know what you mean about the heartbreak dogs joball.....the sire to the grey bitch a had was also a first X from heartbreak...he's exactly the way you describe your own dog....think i've still got a pic on computer of the bitch i had an her son(3/4 grey 1/4 beddy) i'll try put it up...the pup(who's now 4 ) will take anything you point him at(an with enthusiasm)...all the best..chris..

I have a SalukiGrey/BeddyWhippet x BeddyGrey, and he's a pleasure, proud to call him mine.. Game as toast, but as said above sometimes to game, mine would literally kill himself for a bunny, but none the less a great companion, You after one mate?

Here's a couple of pics mate, ATB Dan.
