Cassie - The Lamp Post Lurcher

Recommended Posts

I am starting this thread about Cassie as we have decided to keep her ourselves. This is the bitch we found tied to the lamp post 2 weeks ago. She was underweight and had fur missing round her neck as the collar she had on was way too small and had rubbed the fur off. She is now starting to grow the fur back and has put on some weight so she is looking a lot better. I have my own ideas about her breeding but feel free to let me know what you think. I would say Grey/beddy/whippet. She is 23"tts. She seems keen when she is out but obviously we havent done much with her as she is still a bit nervous and still settling in but she is fine off lead and her recall is good. I will keep this updated as we go along.

It was my sister in law that found her on her way to work. A bloke from one of the nearby houses said he had been watching her for nearly an hour. She waited another half hour before she untied her and phoned our lass to go and pick her up. Phoned the dog warden and the rspca and local vets etc but none of them had any record of her being reported lost or stolen. She has no microchip. They have our number if anyone did come forward but she does have a few distinctive markings that someone would have to describe before I would even think about letting anyone come to see her. She was tied on the first layby just off the motorway so she could have come from anywhere really. The man said he had heard a dog barking thru the night so I am guessing she had been there a couple of hours at least.

nice looking dog wonder why it was abandoned

We have said the same pal....keep waiting for her to do something that makes us think "ah thats why" but she has been fine. Gets on with the other dogs, doesnt bark, clean in the kennel. Does pull on the lead but we are sorting that out. Doesnt seem to know things like sit, stay, down etc but again that is easily remedied. Not food or toy aggressive. Maybe they just got bored or couldnt afford her anymore but there are better ways of doing it than tying her up imo.
