I take it that you mean 15 yards? and also (sorry if no brainer) I take it that subs need a lot more lead then the normal carts, because part of the reason that I use my 410 as much as I do is to practice judging lead and everything because the 12b doesn't come out as much as Id like it to and most of the shots are at 30 yard woodies going pretty fast so I really need a quick cartridge atb Quote Link to post

jackinbox99 41
The mossberg hushpower .410 is a cracking gun, ive had one for a while now. You seldom see them come up and when they do are snapped up. I find mine very quiet, it quietens down normal .410 shells, but with the subsonics its pretty quiet. Certainly wouldnt need ear defenders. Its a full choke on them so will blast a clay to bits if you try it on the range. Out in the field, i find the noise level depends on where you are. If your standing next to a barn or hedge, then the noise will be amplified. If your in the middle of the field then the noise is like a sneeze - most strange when you first hear it! The pump action is a bit noisey, in fact out in the field on a quiet night lamping its most off-putting. The other bad point with the mossberg is its sheer length. Its a hell of a long gun because of the action & magazine, the silencer doesnt start until later on. You`ll find unless you have a tall cabinet, you`ll have to take the gun appart to get it in. And when you first start using it, it does feel weird! But, you soon get used to it. Other plus point with the mossberg is its 3 shots, which come in handy. Some people prefer the single shot .410`s like the baikel as they are not as long, and i think are quieter as the silencer is longer. The single shot baikel very often can be picked up for 250quid, which is half the price the mossberg tends to fetch 2nd hand. But, like I said, they seldom seem to come up, so are rarer too. Looking back at mine, the only thing ive wondered about was whether I should have gone for the 12g version, as at the time the 12g came with both the hushpower barrel and the normal barrel for free. So you get 2 guns for the price of 1. I think they no longer do that. It would also mean you could use 12g shells, which are roughly half the price of the .410 ones. Id recommend seeing if you can try one out at your local gunshop and see what you think. Quote Link to post
