Simoman 110
I think see mounted packs etc as toffs, and then its definately seen as a class issue but those of us who have been out or go out with hounds know folk from all walks of life follow hunts..... Must admit i have never had anyone call me a toff when i have gone for a shine or a dig, other names but never a toff. I think lurcher and terrierlads are looked at as working class as traditionally its been a working class sport with hotbeds being towns and villages linked to heavy industry........... mackem 26,491
Hunting with hounds? Not upper-class,loads of guys do it without the pomp and ceremony thats associated with it,Riding with hounds might be a little different, the cost of keeping decent horses is ridiculous,my sis just had to get rid of hers because of finances, lots of tradition and pageantry used to surround riding to hounds. Blooded 62
I know of several lasses who live in the middle of council estates who work damm hard to fund their passion for mounted hunting. the press etc never realise that it is a wide mix of cultural backgrounds that is found in the field nowadays, My missus has a knackered old nag thats she occaisionaly rides to hounds and we certainly aint rich or upper class. 99% of the sabs i have dealt with only do it because they think they are in some sort of class war, TALLY HO P
