Whippets. Ped or Non-Ped

Recommended Posts

Hello folks just after some sound advice and opinion. I'm getting into Whippets and want to know what is best for me. I'll be working them mostly but may get into a bit of racing. What will be the better all rounder, Ped or Non-ped? Whats the pros and cons of each. Not after lads coming on with the daft comments saying Whippets are shivering useless things and I'm better off with this and that blah blah blah. Cheers in advance :D

the none ped are faster mate thats a fact for racing that is

i had a none ped whippet bitch, she was 20in 20lb . She was a great little dog good rabbits in the day, and good in the lamp. I have seen some males 22in 30lb in weight, tough little buggers would tackle any fox. None peds are great, more so if you have a 1/4 of bull in there as well

I got a ped male, about 22.5 tts and weighs 36-38.5. Very strong for a whippet.

Ive got a non ped bitch 22tts weighing 34lb dash of saluki in both sides of her lineage and shes the best rabbiting dog ive ever owned, yeah non peds are generally faster if your into racing, but ive got to admire what some of the working whippet forum lads are doing, ok some seem very keen to hang onto the KC tag but at least breeding proven worker to worker can only improve the breed. Anyway mate i would look for a dog that will make between 25 to 30lb that should easily serve your purpose, good luck with your choice. :big_boss:

I run peds and they do everything I want however theres plenty of both ped and non ped around that will do exactly what you want, there is a litter around at the moment of greyhound/whippet x whippet and I think there are a couple left, nothing to do with me before anybody thinks I"m promoting something myself but the sire is a little dog owned by chickens4ever off of here who is a cracking little dog and well proven as a worker.

Id, have you got a picture of that dog? ... sounds around the same as mine. Ped, but a big strong solid thing. Same height, slightly lighter than yours.
