i think they have to be cropped in the states where its legal mate and then shipped over to ireland, dont think your allowed to crop ears over there? definately not allowed to do it here in the uk. so your best bet would be to get an american import thats allready had its ears done if thats the look you want but a good guard dog should do its job well never mind if its ears are up or down. the croppings done to make them look more alert and viscious

Trust me mate,

If you get a decent dobe then it wont matter what it looks like. It will do the job. I've got 2.

My bitch is fairly small and lightly built but I've seen 5 grown men tooled up with bars, shit there pants at the sight of this bitch snarling

And growling.

Whereas the big dog is twice the size and couldnt scare a fly.

Its all about attitude and presence IMO mate.

Yeah,its from good gear.

but as i said, folk will be passing this dog,day by day.

So looks is a big part of this, can croping be done in ireland?

I think they still do them in Holland, correct me if I'm wrong.

There is a man in Essex near Lea Valley just of the M11 that is/was? using Dobermans, maybe well worth a look "Topdog Security", google them then phone. I had a bitch off them and what a good bitch, the only problem was she would fight and it created unrest in my pack so she had to go at 2years old, a real shame. She went to a car dealer on the Lea bridge road, as a personal protection dog for his home and lived with a small dog which she would tolerate.

I must say there are not many gooduns about, the chap from TopDog had European and Eastern European lines as well as his own.

I think getting a good Shepherd is a lot easier than getting a dobie, or rottie. But if you like dobies then best of luck matey, hope its everything you want

I agree that getting a good shepherd or rottie would be easier than getting a good dobe.

Also a poor shepherd/rottie is a better visual deterrent than a poor dobe in my opinion.

However get a good one and your laughing.

Personally if I was after a guard or yard dog which I hopefully will have room for in a couple of years then would be looking at Presa x Cane Corso or Rotty x Bullmastiff.

Seen both of the above and they look the part and will stop at nothing.
