I WENT TO THE BEACH YESTERDAY AND THERE WAS A THOUSANDS OF THESE WASHED UP ON THE BEACH ALIVE, THEY ARE OLIVE GREEN ABOUT A FOOT LONG THEY HAVE A LITTLE FIN ON THERE BACK AND HAVE A HEAD LIKE A SEA HORSE, I ONLY HAD MY PHONE SO THE PHOTOS ARE CRAP, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE, THERE NOT SAND EELS I KNOW WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE, jeff

Bang on DS pipefish,havnt come across them on my rambles on beaches,but if there was a severe gale and a lot of seaweed washed up on the beach thats probably the reason.Once they get seperated from the seaweed they dont have a great resistance from the current,they end up where ever they are pushed.I may be incorrect but I believe this to be the case.

Pipefish without a doubt,seen them washed up before,when it's been rough and the mackerel have been pushing them up the beach.Not sure why they would have been washed up at this time of year,but i have seen it happen with these and whitebait before.
