borris 12
yeah my hob was planing an escape. Pulled two strips off inch by half welded mesh bit at a time so i doubled it up,But if i was making a new one i would go for heavyer guage stuff. Quote Link to post
Lab 10,979
Theres different grades of rabbit netting(chicken wire) and the low grade stuff is crap and maybe a ferret would chew out but it would take some chewing to get through the thicker stuff. You can get 1/2 inch galvanized weldmesh and it will last forever... Quote Link to post

It's not just the chewing action to worry about though. Ferrets are strong little creatures and once wire's been bent back and forth a few times metal fatigue takes over. Quote Link to post
Millet 4,497
In my younger day's ive had ferrets escape no end of time through using cheap low grade mesh, it was mainly the dog ferret's that would do most of the damage though, it definatly pay's in the long run to spend that little bit extra on a heavier gauge mesh. romany52 313
What you need is a maximum of 1" square mesh and a minimum of 16 gauge wire, 14 gauge is better still. Edited June 23, 2011 by romany52 Quote Link to post

Just get the heavy guage rabbit netting....they'll do well to get through that al tell you...........even better get mouse netting. I have been fencing since i was 16 mate...i'm not just guessing..... Quote Link to post
