a greyhound / mongolia / pink ferret would just go thru the holes

I don't know like but I was out ferreting with a gamekeeper a few years ago in a woods where there was an old pheasant pen. His Jill ferret was goin through the chicken wire no problem from hole to hole?

I've heard of ferrets escaping from the hutches you buy from pet shops with te solid steel bars on the front. They are escape artists. I know it's expensive mate.

Your best using the rectange mesh stuff which I've got on mine, or the cm wide square mesh which I will be soon changing to as my hobs have bent the mesh and it looks untidy.

I know it's expensive but I'm pretty sure they will get through it.

Edited to say, I forgot that I have chicken wire on the bottom I'm my garden fence as the lady that had the house kept chihuahuas and my young kits get through them no problem.

thanks for the advice. I have some thick green plastic coated mesh that I think is welded. Its 1.75 inches though in diamatre. The holes arnt that big and I dont think a ferret would even get its head through. WIth them only being in say 1.5 by metre wide sheets though ill have to cut it. What I might do is double coat it with chicken wire giving 2x layers.

Alternatively I have welded to together inche wide bars but they are rectangle down over and now in a square pattern. Would the ferret get through that?.

I think the small holed stuff is like 7 pound a metre (like 0.5cm squares) so I might end up investing in that. I know its not to much its just like I say it adds up. For me I would but since im currently living board free the grandparents get annoyed when I (according to them) "waste money" and start threatening to take board equal to 3/4 my weekly income.

Ill sus out whats what though and ill ask my granda what hes got floating around, knowing him hes probably got something in the shed or something. The way he was talking though he was going to make a solid steel welded 4-5mm top out of some premade metal we had from something else on one half and on the other use either ply wood or perspects on the other.

the general idea was to have (its kind of split into two sections) one side open and closed and the opposite way round on each half if you get me.

Again though cheers for letting me know id hate to think it got out its first night.

If the holes aren't sqaure ? It's not welded mesh ?
