HarveyTheHunter 6
just had a look at the reloding post and now know alot about reloding... but it dosent seem to cost much than manufactured rounds... its £60 for 100 a-max heads and 100 winchester cases. and the manufactured rounds are like £33 for a box of 50 not that much diffeence realy?? any info or where to buy powder, cases, heads and primers cheaper will help alot. chhers harv Quote Link to post
salukiwhippet 6
Aye but you can use the cases several times, especially if you use mildish loads and neck size only. So, cases £30/hundred = 30p each, 5 reloads which is conservative but makes the maths easy! = 6p per load Nosler BT's - £20/Hundred = 20p per load Primer - £3/100 = 3p per load Powder - H110, £36/lb,700 loads = 5p Total - 34p a bang, or £34/100 I get more like 6-8 reloads per case, and Noslers are expensive bullets too - I load berger 30grainers for bunnies, they bring the cost down to more like £26-£30 per hundred. Bear in mind as well that most factory hornet stuff is loaded slow and with SP or HP bullets, which in my opinion are poo for foxes. Hope that lot helps James Quote Link to post

salukiwhippet 6
Not a problem mate! Good choice of calibre, they can be a bit ammo fussy but the performance is worth it. I had another fox with mine on saturday night, 145 yards off the bonnet, dead as you like! And all for the same cost as HMR ammo! If I can help any more, just get in touch. James Quote Link to post
ace32 4
hiya james, have you tried lilgun and small pistol primer,s,i use them 12.5g over the 35g vmax at the mo,lovely round,do the buisness on bunnies etc no bother, was just wondering is there any dif useing the h110,powder,seems a lot cheaper than the lilgun, running a ruger 77/22 at the mo,though selling it soon to make way for a new 204,do you crimp your head,s in or not, just awaiting a crimp die, then wil be loading up some 40g,to try,,ian 1 Quote Link to post
Lewdan 17
i use 40Gn sierra blitz king, with small rifle primers over 12.8Gn of Lil-gun powder. think they run at about 2800 Ft/Sec devestating out to 200yds. bit too much for rabbits but great for fox. Real nice calibre... LD Quote Link to post
salukiwhippet 6
Hi Ace, Not managed to get hold of Lil'gun, I do plan on using it with some berger 30's that I've got. They need a lot of powder to stabilise properly, and I'm starting to get pressure signs with the 110. The 110 does do the business with the 40s, doesn't seem to like the lighter ones so much. Hopefully getting some Lil'gun over the weekend so will report back! James Quote Link to post
