I now that front line is prob the best stuff but just wondered if there are any alternatives that are any good ?

I use flea collars £1.50 from tesco last 5 months ..fleas and tics ...they'll break away easy enough if your dogs going through thick cover so won't get hung up

I use Advantix from my vet lasts 3mths, is mostly for ticks but will keep fleas away, my dogs never pick up a tick once they've had it on as long its used regulary, the best i've ever used for reliability

duramitx from the pet shop,stinks like tom cat pittle but who cares if ya dogs are kennels.works a treat and ive used it for 20 so yrs.

thats what iv always used duramitx and benzo harder to get these days so when you do fall on some buy in bulk

Stronghold, no faffing about keeping dogs dry for periods of time before and after like you have to do with Frontline
