That the way we bred some of them, sorry..   This one was 29 inches, killed rabbits so easy it was laughable, took over 100 roe in one season, minced fox and did quite a few hares in his time..and,

i got her from the lake districkt not as a pup she would cower at u wavin ya hands a bout every was going wrong from day one with her the lad i got her of didnt bother to give her basick training just tuk her out a few time ruind her then put her away and didnt bother with her then only thing she was very good at was retreaving 100 percent

The ones in the past wer passable, today well laughable :laugh::laugh:

seen a few decent deerhoundxs mainly made up of deerhound collie types and a bit of beddy in the mix decent alrounders back 15 20 odd year ago , never seen a first cross or pure work tho so cant really coment on that they dont seem to be as many types about these days

A lad near me has one now, biggest I've seen, 34 tts, but he's not a working dog and wasn't bought with work in mind. Not sure what lines he from, but a very big dog. A mate of mine from treforest used his mate's pure deerhound dog to cover his greyhound bitch in the 80's, bitches about 27" 28", and the dog he kept back was 30". All made excellent workers, but the dog was awesome. But like you say, they weren't pure. I have a bitch pup now c/g x d/g which I'll be taking to welsh game fair tomorrow and she's just under 29", but very agile.
