Dog Attacked

Recommended Posts

Don't listen to people who say that the dog is unlikely to run again: I've seen much worse on my own dogs, and they have healed fine. Obviously the bruising is a concern, and yes, the wound could break down and the skin die off, but nature is pretty miraculous and even if it takes a long time the dog will heal providing you follow the vet's instructions. As the vet has already told you the dog will run again, then listen to the vet, not someone on here who I doubt very much is a vet, or has had a great deal of experience.

Just keep him quiet, clean the wound VERY gently every day with salt water: a teaspoon of salt dissolved in half a litre of previously boiled water which has been allowed to cool to luke warm.

You might well end up with a scar with no fur on it, but that won't matter at all. Good luck.

good post skycat .... the 2 things i would add is if the dog is not indoors or if you think he might be a bit cold put a heat lamp above him ... the other is kill the staffy

staff's are on another level excluding apbt's of course. I'm not condoning what the staff did but its what it was bred to do. The fault lies at the handlers feet.

yeah mate that'll do the breeds involved image a world of good plastered on the front of the echo. why even blame the dog?   it should imo be pts but only because most people couldnt care for it pr

true true - had a run in with a staff off the lead 2 weeks ago on holiday with my girlfriend - we had our pair on the leads a whippet x saluki and a full saluki pup - the staff went for the saluki pup but i managed to grap it collar before if got a propper bite in, wasnt going to boot it with flip flops on! - the owner was a F***king grade a W****ker - apparently it was our fault.... as you all say - its the owners. he needed a good hiding but im not going to loose any licences over it.. at the end of the day our dogs were ok and this guys always going to be a C**T - not a great start to the holiday though....we were very very lucky - could have been a different story..

so i suppose you are of an opinion that this staffy will not attack again ..... lets just say for example that my 13 year old daughter is out for a walk with her 5 month old whippet pup and the same staffy runs up to them and attacks the whippet .... instinctivley my daughter is going to try and get the whippet away from the staffy ... what if the staffy then bites her ... and don't say it don't happen because the last time i parted 2 fighting dogs i got bitten myself ... it happens and yes i agree with you it is the owners that are at fault but a serious line has to be drawn under the future of that particular dog because i would bet my last £ on it fighting again that is why i say shoot the piece of s**t ....... dogs like that and tw*t owners in the same air space give the rest of us a bad name

arsoles I learnt years ago to slip the dog in that situation has a better chance to protect its self or get away. one thing for whippets though they a quick healers, all the best with with your dog.

not all staff owners are bad owners, my daughter has 2 they stay with my 6 whippets for hols no probs, but she rescued one not long ago fine for months then one day for no reason while free running she spotted another dog and went on the atack, not too much damage done but without hesitation she took this bitch to the vets and had her put to sleep, she was broken hearted but did the right thing. these dogs should be kept on leads at all timeor muzled while out unless well away from public ,cant blame the breed there like people some good some bad .owners are to blame especialy the idiots who think its trendy to own a powerfull dog .

Im no hater of staffies, i as i said its a staffy x lab, its a mix of dogs, the owners arnt even owners there voulanrteer dog walkers who haved that dog and its sistert for 2 years apparelty but still have f**k all control over it, the dog went the sanc and had been known to be dangerous with cats and dogs but there that clueless there they think itsa better to cook it up all week ju for a little weekend away, fair enough if its a good dog but it f****d mine over, id only ever want to go for the owners tbh because the way they reacted was a joke, me and my brother always have something with us now to break the fight if anything happens, i dont care anymore i dont want to hurt anyones dog but if happend agen id do anythink to stop what happend!
