what do you expect when buying or selling

Recommended Posts

When you do a deal on an item and the price is say over the £100 mark, would you feel it was unreasonable for the buyer to ask for a land line contact number and a name and address and the buyer asking has a post count of over 150, i feel in todays times with all the scams going on especially on these sort of forums you must get as much info as possible, i personally have no problem doing this and feel if you both have a talk on the phone you feel a bit more confident that its not a scam and if it is you have the info to take the matter futher (ie: sent money but no item.)

I done this today with a member on here who wanted me to send him/her £250+ p+p through paypal, i asked for his/her details ie: phone No address and name and was told "this was a completely out of order thing to ask someone, consider this sale terminated" :icon_eek:

I don't know if i was in the wrong and would like to hear your comments on this.

I dont think you were out of order at all mate, for that sort of sum i'd expect some sort of contact details with the seller, the fact that he's taken a shitty and said this sale is terminated may have done you a favour in the long term, befor you get stung. I have to speak as I find, I have sold stuff to members off this site and I have found everyone, bar none, to be totally trustworthy and up front, even if they might not have had the funds to pay up frontfor the goods, I have sent them and the funds have come through straight away, without exception. The first time i get shit on, will be the last. But i'm with you on this one mate, your well within your rights to ask for a contact point.

Hope this is of some strength to you.

Regards

B

i think you are being 100% right/sensible. if someone is genuinely sellingyou something then why would they care if you have their details. as obviously they have your details, for posting etc.

i would not give my address to anyone on here to many dog thieves. any thing i sell i meet them away from my home its just not worth the risk and if im getting something posted it goes to a mates house with do dogs

I am a member on 9 sites like this one and have done loads of deals and only be had over once but that did get sorted.

The seller wanted me to send cash but I offered to do a bank transfer which was refused, then i was asked to do paypal which i said yes to but thought if something went wrong i wouldn't have a leg to stand on as paypal will not pay out on anything to do with guns, after 18 messages in total the seller feels this has turned sour, which is a shame but i still have my money

Good point there hullhunter that is a big exception. If your selling a dog or pups definitely can't give out address. Or the yard will be empty.

dont matter what im selling every one on here has seen pics of my dogs if someone decided they wanted them they could just wait till i was selling anything and get my address thats why i meet them somewere and if they dont like it then tough sh*t the ywont be byeing of me

If i was buying a pup which i have done i would want to see the mother and the condition of where the dog was bought up, my dog cost me £450 (labrador) and this is what i did and was happy to buy.

I don't know much about the hunting dogs but do know where you are coming from, its a sad world we live in when you have to be careful who comes to your front door.

i would have done exactly the same for that kind of money, and until my goods arrived i would still have that wee alarm bell at the back of the head.looks like you won a watch by not dealing in this particular member.
