what dog? lurcher, bull x, greyhound?

i was wondering whatr was the best type of dog to get for rabbiting? i was looking at getting a dog in the future to accompany my ferrets but dont have a clue on what would suit. ive got a lab x collie now but shes just a pet. ive seen many post on here describing lurcher x's, bull x's and greyhound x's but im unsure what these dogs are suited for and what job they are bred to do.

for ferreting i would stay away from a bull x.get some ting with a bit of collie or beddy in it like a collie/grey or a beddy/whippet

Rather than just post on here and ask what people think you should get I would spend a few hours reading through some of the posts on here and make your own mind up. There's thousands of posts where people are giving their opinions on various dogs, and talking about experiences and discussing the traits of different types of dogs, some quite good info for the beginner (I know because I'm a beginner). At first take what you read with a pinch of salt and after a bit you get to know which people know what they're on about and which ones are jokers/messers. Then when you've got a better idea about the various dogs put a few more specific questions up to help make your mind up, and maybe get out with people and watch a few in action if possible

Yeah good advice mate. My collie x lab is eager to please, I reckon she would go after rabbits if I tried her. Don't think she's got the speed though. She would hold them down in the longnets etc. Would be good if she done the job though, wouldnt that be funny out in the field, a lab x collie among the whippets etc.

whats funny if its just for holding a bunny in the net then u dont need a lurcher .the labx will prob do ok holding and marking
