fascination with power

Recommended Posts

ive had a air gun now for about 40 years although not always in use , now ive just bought my first pcp which im over the moon with. But why is it when you tell anyone about your new gun , the first thing they say is ,is it powerful? then they go on to tell you about a relum they had when they were young that would shoot through a breeze block .

A guy my mate works with recently told him "My mate once shot his .177 90 yards at a bus stop and it were powerful enough to go through it!"wankerzo4.gif some people just think everything that looks like a rifle HAS to be powerful enough to bring down deer, usually chavvy twcensored.gifts.

Hi Oakey.

Truth is, an awful lot of people are very ignorant of the true qualities of a decent air rifle, its actual power and just how potent a nicely set-up sub 12/ft-lb air rifle actually is. They are also full of bullshit about what they think can and cannot do with one.

These people just never learned how to shoot correctly and believe that power alone is what gets the pellet to a long range target.

Few spring air rifles are capable of higher performance tuning and still retaining precision accuracy. The Weihrauch HW80 can take a Titan tune to around 20ft/lbs and retain superb accuracy, but an HW77 is far better at 10.5 to 11.3.

I'll tell you a short true story about a Relum Tornado .22 air rifle that belonged to my cousin back in 1969. Had this rifle been capable of just 11 ft/lbs output, I would probably be dead. He accidentally shot me in the face from less than ten feet away; thinking his rifle was unloaded...Boy, did he get a shock when he saw what he suddenly did to my left cheek :icon_eek: . Over 40 years later, the milbro pellet from it is still lodged in my cheek.
