red dot sight on shotgun?

Recommended Posts

Cant see the point whistling.gif

Shotgun spreads the shot so no need for a defined point of aim really!

Saying that many moons ago I did have a red dot on my shotgun.

All it was was an 1" long 'clear' tube about 1/4" dia.

It was fixed right up against the foresight on the rib.

The idea was if you couldnt 'see' a red dot then you were not mounting the gun correctly!

It did work OK.

There was a article I read about these recentley in Sporting Gun. Heres the link to the article on-line.

The one they were testing was around the £500 mark, which seems a bit steep to me!

Hopt that helps

I read that article as well, I was taught never to use the bead or aim like I would a rifle so wouldn't it teach bad practice? I think sporting gun needed something to fill a few extra pages. I am fairly new to the sport and I think I'd rather spend the money with a good coach and learn to shoot properly.
