On the way back i counted them there was 16 badgers and 4 foxes and a few rabbits . On one part of the road there where 4 badgers within 300 yards , anybody else notice an increase in road kill at this time of year :hmm::hmm:

it's not too bad round my way at the moment, middle of summer is roadkill season here. there's always a few flattened pheasants when the keepers let them out of the pens for the shoots, rabbits are always squished to paste, and i see a fair few squished squirrels in the woods. but come summer, the roads are red with dead things!

I'm frankly amazed that, in a year of looking out for it, I reckon I could count the number of road kills I've seen here on one hand! Seriously! One mink. One fox. Two cats ~ and they were a symaltanious left and right. Odd small bird. That's it!

Granted, I only travel the two stretches of road. But the land either side of these roads if Lifting with badgers, hares and christ knows what else. I had a badger rush across the road in front of the taxi I was in a few weeks ago. But, I guess, the people here know these roads and know there's a loose Dog or three behind every open gateway. Not to mention people walking along in the pitch blackness, along narrow grass verges.

All credit to the rural Irish drivers. Bet if we fetched a hundred more typical british rat racers over here for a few months, the road sides would soon become a blood bath.
