coney clucky 93
Whats the best way of keeping the dog cool do you trim there hair becauses ive always had short haired lurchers?? well mate a lot depends on if you a rosette hunter in the summer months as lot of judges dont like to see a lurcher with coat that as been cut if you not show person and not bothered cut its coat or strip its coat out personally id just make shaded area for dog to lie in and on very hot days try ice cubes in water bowl mate Quote Link to post
lurchergrrl 1,441
I don't like cutting/shaving them in the summer as I find it changes the texture of their coat. And I'm of the opinion that their coat provides protection for them even in summer. My rough bitch is more broken than rough, and doesn't have a thick undercoat, so I just leave her. You're best off leaving it, providing cool places to lie - even a paddling pool for them to lark about in if you've got the room. Let's be fair, it's not like we have months of hot weather. You'd shave her and we'd get 6 weeks of rain and wind! Quote Link to post
iceman001979 1,316
l send both off my dogs to get shaved think it helps a lot over the summer months £45 for both off the dogs to get it done. Quote Link to post
